The Western Herbalism Program
Our Western Herbalism program is ongoing, spanning over two years and divided into three parts:
Western Herbalism 101, Foundations, and Advanced.
Class is held in a small group setting, on our half acre medicinal garden, as well as in our apothecary and clinic.

Western Herbalism 101
Western Herbalism 101
1 weekend class (two days 10am-5pm)
Perfect for the beginning herbalist or a refresher for the experienced one, this class introduces the basics of Western Herbalism, bioregionalism, herbal nutrition, and the foundations of holistic herbal health.
Students will learn about the medicinal properties and uses of over thirty herbs, on our half-acre medicinal garden. Herb walks and classroom lectures will follow as students gain experience in plant identification, and explore the vast uses of plants in our native environment.
Each student will gain hands-on experience making their own herbal preparations, including tisanes and tinctures, as well as methods for cultivating and harvesting herbs.
From here, students can choose to continue herbal education in our higher level course, Foundations of Western Herbalism.

8 weekend intensives over the span of 8 months:
Intermediate Series
Classes meet one weekend per month over the span of 8 months.
Our Foundations curriculum is designed to immerse both the beginner and intermediate herbalist in the basic knowledge needed to provide herbal care for themselves and their family.
In doing this, we provide a grounded, well-rounded western herbal program to evolve and take into the student’s home and community.
This course covers the art of medicine-making, client intakes, and the properties of over 100 herbs. You will learn a different body system and its appropriate medica each month.
Pre-requisites: Western Herbalism 101- Students must receive instructor approval to register for this program.

8 monthly weekend intensives and 12 months of weekly evening Student Intern Clinic
This program covers a full range of educational opportunities from working hands-on with a strong Western Herbal Materia Medica to the theory behind holistic, bioregional, herbal living.
Our clinical program is one of the best in the nation. Students are immerse in all aspects of clinical application including: basic botany, wild crafting, herbal processing and storage, medicine making, human physiology, therapeutics and first aid.
In addition to these fundamental principles, the core curriculum will expand on herbal beauty products, essential oil, and plant spirit medicine and communication. Our overall goal is to educate the student on traditional herbal practices of thousands of years, that span many cultures and healing practices.
Classes meet once a month for 8 months, along with once per week every Tuesday at our Student Intern Clinic. The clinic allows students to apply their skills in a safe, supervised setting. They gain experience in case intakes, creating appropriate herbal formulas, and preparing medicine.
